What are we skeptical about?

Disclaimer: This synopsis is written by Deuce Geary, but tries to describe both Deuce and McLovin’. Once McLovin gets a look at this, he may want to edit it.

We are skeptical about: human nature, government, and anything so big as to be an institution. We don’t trust human beings to do the right thing. We ‘re conservative, but we’re skeptical that any party or politician will govern in accord with its or his/her stated principles. Recognizing that corruption of individuals results in the corruption of organizations, we’re not surprised when institutions stray from their ideals or the law.

We’re not resigned to all this. We’d prefer that the real world did not lead us to this skepticism, and we realize that every once in a while, a rare individual or entity will come along that we can look up to almost all of the time.

But we are not going to be apologists for those on our end of the political spectrum.  Republicans especially deserve our scrutiny, and they’ll get it.  Though with a federal government that is dominated by Democrats, you’ll understand if many of our posts deal with Democratic politicians and policies, both good and bad.

What we are not skeptical about — and this may strike many as at odds with the name of our blog — is our shared Christian faith.  Sometimes, I think things in the world are so crappy that the only solace is my faith.  So hopefully, will you see that perspective reflected in our writing.  I am probably more likely than McLovin’ to let my anger or pride show through in my writing.  I know I tend to lash out.  Feel free to call me on it when you see that happen.
