Rule 5 Friday: Gee, this post smells terrific!

I think you probably have to be at least 45 or so to realize that, the title of this post notwithstanding, it is not about smells, but about hair. (Click here if you still don’t get it.)

Some guys like it long. Some like it short. Or shiny. Or red.

Me? I like it thick. I always notice a gal with a head of thick hair. Shiny works, too. So here’s to some ladies with great hair (not to be confused with big hair).

Dana Delaney. I never really thought she got her due for looks. But I guess when most of your television exposure is in army fatigues, your looks can go unnoticed. If anything, I think she’s better-looking now than she was 20 years ago. If I’ve got the dates right, here she is at 50 years young:

That is one glorious mane. Almost enough to make me check in on Desperate Housewives. Almost. And she wasn’t a bad-looking youngster, either, with thick. but much shorter, hair:

Catherine Zeta-Jones. I learned when my wife was pregnant and reading up on her pregnancy that thicker hair is one of the bodily changes frequently associated with pregnancy. And for that reason, I doubt Catherine Zeta-Jones will ever look better than she did in Traffic, which she filmed while pregnant. Virtually every scene she was in, I said to myself, wow, look at that hair! So it figures, of course, that I can’t find any decent pictures from the movie online.  You’ll have to settle for this:

Then again, maybe that’s not a compromise at all.

UPDATE (who ever heard of an update to a Rule 5 post?): What a coincidence . . . The Los Angeles Times has a slideshow of pop culture hairstyles through the years.
