		<description>The right tends to over react to these things but there is an underlying dynamic that needs to be addressed.  The left is saying &quot;relax, the report is only talking about extremists&quot; but then routinely categorizes huge numbers of conservatives as &quot;the extreme right wing.&quot;  

Try to find some left wing discourse on, for instance, the religious right that does not include words like &quot;radical&quot; or &quot;extreme&quot; Another example would be any left wing discussion of the Thomas/Scalia wing of SCOTUS.  

Then there&#039;s Axelrod&#039;s follow up comment that the tea parties are &quot;unhealthy&quot; &lt;a href=&quot;http://hotair.com/archives/2009/04/19/axelrod-the-tea-party-movement-could-be-unhealthy/&quot; rel=&quot;nofollow&quot;&gt;In the words of Hot Air&lt;/a&gt;: &quot;Even so, his intent is clear — to delegitimize the parties by framing them as a shot across the bow from some sort of &lt;strong&gt;inchoate militia.&lt;/strong&gt;&quot; (my emphasis added.  

I think using the occasion to talk about, and maybe even try to deal with, the polarization issue would have been much more productive though.</description>
