Again, the Religious Left misses the point, and will get a complete pass.

I really don’t like the religious left, for the same reason I don’t like the Left generally.  Missing the obvious, twisting history and religion, dishonest (or honest but stupid) criticism are their hallmarks.  But at least I have a faith in common with them . . . which makes their alliance with secular lefties all [...]

Give Arabs credit where credit is due.

Tom Gross at NRO’s Media Blog has a round-up of a specific sort of Arab reaction to Israel’s recent Gaza attacks.  That specific sort f reaction: putting the blame on . . . Hamas!

Journalists and aristocrats and senators, oh my!

God bless Victor Davis Hanson for so frequently and eloquently telling it like it is.  In this case, he compares press treatment of Sarah Palin and Caroline Kennedy at NRO’s Media Blog:
But, no, the real embarrassment proves to be the media itself that apparently can’t see this weird unfolding self-incriminating morality tale: It is not [...]

“My bonus needs a bailout!”

Well, why didn’t they say this in the first place?  At least that would have been honest.

Six Degrees of Separation . . . Name That Party Edition!

Ragnar Danneskjold, Typical Bitter Gun-Clinger at Jawa Report has done a bit of nifty research regarding a couple or recent stories and the eagerness of the press to Name . . .  that . . . Party!  His post is entitled:
Name that Party: Scandal-ridden Ohio A.G.’s Party Affiliation Irrelevant; Party Affiliation of Mother of Mother [...]

PRAVDA just ain’t what it used to be.

I don’t read it, but this comment from Nice Deb intrigued me:
You know where I go now for more conservative news? Freakin’ Pravda, that’s where. I’m not kidding. I’m putting them on my blogroll….
Now, I’m gonna have to check it out . . .

A side benefit to all the lefty screeching over privacy?

Just read over at Michelle’s how the “Fort Dix Five,” who were convicted today of conspiring to murder American soldiers at Fort Dix, were brought to the attention of authorities by a Circuit City employee who viewed their training video when they dropped it off to be converted to DVD.
I’d like to take this moment [...]

It would have been called “waiver.gov” if they were being honest.

Michelle has the details on how the Obama transition team got around the usual requirements for obtaining a “.gov” domain for “change.gov.”  The .gov domain is reserved for official government sites.  Her post details how the domain doesn’t even meet the requirements for an actual government site, let alone a non-government site, and how the [...]

The Missing Snark

Last month, I wrote that President Bush’s foremost failure of leadership was failing to respond to attacks and to go over the heads of the media to make his own case to the American people.  Today, Gabriel Malor at Ace’s covers the White House’s new-found enthusiasm for defending itself, in this case against a NYT [...]

Barack Obama should have only been a runner-up for Time’s 2008 Person of the Year

By now, you all know that Time Magazine has shocked the world by naming Barack Obama its 2008 Person of the Year.  Yawn.
The real news here is who the magazine overlooked.  (And I’m not talking about Tina Fey, who horrifyingly ranked fourth in a reader poll.)  I’m talking about someone who didn’t even make the [...]

This worries I a lot.

Or so I might express myself if I were Obama’s nominee for Secretary of Education.

I guess any kind of intrusive surveillance is OK, as long as it’s for taxes instead of catching terrorists.

How else to explain a report in the Charlotte Observer that North Carolina is considering monitoring vehicle mileage of private citizens in order to tax them according to mileage and road use?  The monitoring would be accomplished either through regular odometer readings or, more ambitiously, through GPS tracking:
With gas-tax revenues plummeting, the state of North [...]

What is in the name “Hussein”?

Good grief.  After bringing it up on TV last night, Hannity kept pressing Bob Beckel on the radio today to admit that now that we know Barack Obama is going to use his full name – Barack Hussein Obama – when he is sworn in on Inaguration Day, we should all be free to use [...]

If this keeps up, pretty soon lenders are going to start paying us to borrow their money.

From the NYT:
The Federal Reserve entered a new era on Tuesday, reducing its benchmark interest rate so low that it will have to reach for new and untested tools in fighting both the recession and downward pressure on consumer prices. The central bank lowered its target for the overnight federal funds rate to a range [...]

A conservative’s defense of Rahm Emanuel

Sorry to go after Michelle again so soon, but I really think her post complaining about Rahm Emanuel “hiding behind his kids” is off base. Her complaint is that when a reporter tracked Emanuel down in the lobby of City Hall, where he was preparing to watch his children participate in a Christmas concert, [...]

Will “The Gray Lady” go conservative?

Newsbusters says try this on for size:
How about Sean Hannity as editor of the New York Times op-ed page? Maybe O’Reilly and Cavuto in place of Dowd and Krugman as Times columnists? It might not be as far-fetched as it sounds. At least, not if Michael Wolff is right. The Vanity [...]

Can we please stop exaggerating UAW wages?

I keep seeing everywhere — JammieWearingFool is just the latest place — that United Auto Workers members earn $73 per hour when you include their benefits, and its driving me nuts, because I know that figure includes future health care and pension benefits. Even if the figure is technically an accurate calculation when taking [...]

Does this mean I can cancel my Auto Club membership?

New York Times: House Passes Auto Rescue Plan. “Auto rescue.” Hmm . . . whenever I needed that before, I called the auto club. So if this bill makes it into law, does that mean I call Congress next time I need a tow?

Come on, Michelle! Don’t turn everything into something political! (UPDATED w/scaled back criticism)

Michelle Malkin cites to the touching reaction of Dong Yun Yoon, the man whose family was killed in the Marine Corps jet crash in San Diego County the other day. The man — again, who has just lost his entire family in the crash — asked people to pray for the pilot, who ejected [...]
