Tuesday’s Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports that a high school canceled a visit from some decorated Iraq and Afghanistan vets after getting some complaints from parents.
Steve Massey, the school principal, said the decision to cancel was prompted by concerns that the event was becoming political rather than educational and therefore was not suitable for a public school.
He [...]

That may be a self-evident point, but it’s worth noting in light of a Sunday New York Times article about how preachers were adjusting their Easter sermons to incorporate thoughts they had after listening to Barack Obama’s speech last Tuesday. The article refers to Jeremiah Wright’s “fiery, prophetic preaching style. “
Today, Dennis Prager pointed [...]

If that question has ever crossed you mind, you really need to listen to this podcast of a recent hour from Dennis Prager’s radio show, which his website describes this way:
Dennis talks to one of the world’s most renowned Biblical scholars, Bart Ehrman, Professor of Religious Studies at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, [...]

While catching up on some Dennis Prager podcasts, I heard Dennis, in the context of the controversy over Barack Obama’s pastor, ask whether Obama knows himself and is comfortable with himself. I agree with Dennis that it is especially important that a man who aspires to the most powerful office in the world [...]

More dishonest media coverage of critical information regarding the Iraq War, to be topped only by the incompetence of the Bush administration in getting out the truth. Stephen Hayes at The Weekly Standard provides details of the dishonest reporting on the Pentagon study of Saddam Hussein’s links to terrorists, based on more than [...]

According to this Kansas City Star story, the Kansas Supreme Court has struck down the ban on funeral picketing (enacted to stop Fred Phelps and his disgusting followers from disrupting the funerals of American servicemen).
Interestingly, though, the law is not invalidated on free speech grounds but for technical separation of powers reasons [...]

This video has been around for around a week already, but more and more people are commenting on it. I heard the audio on the radio a few weeks ago, and it creeped me out. I’m not alone. A Google search for “obama+chant+creepy” tonight returned 14,300 results.
I think Ann Althouse summarized it [...]

You’ve read these stories before. U.S. soldier does multiple Iraq tours. Gets wounded, twice. Comes home to recover.
These stories are sometimes sad, sometimes inspiring, sometimes both.
The soldier in this story is a little different. He’s “The American GI from Berlin.”
I guess not every European despises the U.S.
But he isn’t a European [...]

I’ve been demanding this (in my mind, at least) for some time now, and the thought was triggered again today by a pair of bumper stickers I saw on the same car, arranged roughly like this:
OBAMA ‘08
Toto, we’re not in a democracy anymore!
I have a couple of questions for the driver.
First, if we’re [...]

I suspect that if Ace ever runs across this humble upstart of a blog, he might suspect that I capitalized off his name (and especially if my soon-to-be co-contributor adopts a name starting with “Tre”). So let me just say for the record that I wasn’t trying to do that and only realized the [...]
